The week of March 15 through March 19 is NOAA's National Flood Safety Awareness Week. With the recent heavy rains and the series of nor'easters and winter storms that have affected our region this season, this is an especially important and timely awareness campaign that can educate the public on the dangers of flooding and steps they can take to protect themselves. One way to ensure protection, at least financially, is through flood insurance. Most homeowners' insurance policies do not cover flood damage.
