Sussex County libraries celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day on Feb. 7

GEORGETOWN, DE (Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026) — Families across Sussex County are invited to celebrate in the joy of reading, learning, and discovering during Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, Feb. 7, at participating libraries across Sussex County.

This annual event encourages families to visit their local libraries and explore the many free resources available for children of all ages. Libraries will offer a variety of activities designed to inspire a love of reading and learning, including crafts, games, and hands-on learning opportunities. Activities and schedules may vary by location.

“Take Your Child to the Library Day is a wonderful opportunity for families to explore all the exciting programs, resources, and welcoming spaces our libraries offer. I encourage you to visit each participating library – discover new books, meet our friendly staff, and spark your child’s love of reading and learning,” County Librarian Rachel Lynch said. “Every library has something special to share, and we can’t wait to see you there!”

Participating libraries include: Bridgeville Public Library, Delmar Public Library, Frankford Public Library, Greenwood Public Library, Georgetown Public Library, Laurel Public Library, Lewes Public Library, Milford Public Library, Milton Public Library, Seaford District Library, Selbyville Public Library, and South Coastal Library.

Families are encouraged to check with their local library for specific event details and times. Please note, the Seaford District Library will kick off the celebration early on Friday, Feb. 6, due to their hours of operation. No library card is required to attend, and all programs are free.
