Sussex County, Bayhealth Medical partner to offer flu shots to the public

Georgetown, Del., Nov. 9, 2010: Sussex County residents paying their property taxes, obtaining marriage licenses or applying for building permits will find one more convenience available at County offices this November: on-the-spot, easy-to-get flu shots.

Sussex County government and Bayhealth Occupational Health are teaming up to make flu shots available to the public on two dates this month, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.

The shots are $26 each, and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis in the atrium of the County Administrative Offices building, 2 The Circle, in Georgetown. Only cash will be accepted. No appointment is necessary.

Ordinarily, flu shots are offered through doctor’s offices, local clinics and the State’s Division of Public Health. However, an overstock order of flu shots that had been set aside for another employer made it possible to pass on an estimated 300 doses to the public, said Kimberly Beauchamp of the County’s Personnel office.
