Sussex County EMS Director Receives Award

September 23, 2009 MR 09-11 [Dover, DE]- On Wednesday, September 16th, EMS Director Glenn Luedtke was honored by the Delaware State Ambulance Association as the first recipient of the “Stephanie Callaway Memorial Award for Excellence in Paramedicine.” The award was established this year to recognize individuals who have rendered outstanding and dedicated service to their community, county, state and the first responder community.

Director Luedtke was recognized for his “experience, maturity and steady leadership,” which have enabled Sussex County EMS to become one of the premier EMS organizations in the country and the world. The presentation cited his role as co-chair of the Delaware Emergency Medical Services Oversight Council, and his leadership in several national projects aimed at improving ambulance safety. He was also recognized for his 50 years of service as a paramedic, firefighter, fire chief, educator and EMS administrator. The award was presented by Charles Evans, President of the Delaware State Ambulance Association, and Stephanie Callaway’s husband, Steve.
