April 16, 2007 MR 07-07: Sussex County EMS (SCEMS) welcomes Michael Carunchio who began his employment with Sussex in March.

Paramedic Carunchio recently completed an eighteen month training program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to completing paramedic training Mike worked in northern Delaware as an EMT for the past five years. Mike has been an assigned with a Field Training Officer and he is currently in the out of state training process on A-shift. Once completed, Mike will be assigned to his new shift.

Paramedic Carunchio, originally from Wilmington, Delaware is engaged and an April wedding is planned. Mike’s fiancée Ashley is a Registered Nurse in the emergency room at Christiana Care. Mike will reside in Smyrna has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in History from the University of Delaware. In his spare time, Mike enjoys running, studying History, and volunteering as an EMT with the University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit.
