Sussex County to host 29th annual Prayer Breakfast on May 15

Georgetown, Del., April 25, 2006: Internationally renowned speaker and published author Pastor Dewey Friedel will be Sussex County Council’s guest speaker at the 29th annual Prayer Breakfast, set for Monday, May 15, 2006, in Georgetown.

Pastor Friedel, cofounder of the Shore Christian Center church in Allenwood, N.J., began his ministry at the impressionable age of 14, preaching sermons and later singing with a gospel group. He then traveled the world, preaching through crusades and pastors’ conferences in locales such as India and Africa, before settling at the Jersey Shore with his wife, Ronda.

There, in 1977, the couple founded Shore Christian Center, a church that has grown to being the spiritual hub for more than 1,400 members in the coastal area, with services, almost two dozen ministries and a Christian academy through eighth grade. Shore Christian Center also reaches potentially thousands more through its local TV ministry broadcasts, called “Peak Performance for Life.”

Pastor Friedel also has penned a book titled Real Men Wear Boxer Shorts: Qualities that Make Men Real, a humor-laced guide that helps to illustrate the need for strong men of faith in churches, popular culture and throughout society.

Tickets are still available for the Prayer Breakfast, which will begin with breakfast at 7 a.m. inside the CHEER Center on Sand Hill Road in Georgetown. Tickets are $12 per person, and reservations must be made by May 10. Call (302) 855-7743 for tickets or more information.
