Sussex County now accepting applications for 2010 dog licenses

Georgetown, Del., Dec. 17, 2009: Sussex County is now accepting applications for 2010 dog licenses as the County prepares to take on dog control responsibilities from the State of Delaware in the New Year.

Dog owners can now obtain an application in person at the Dog Licensing Office inside the County Administrative Offices building, 2 The Circle, in downtown Georgetown, or by downloading a form online at sussexcountyde.gov/dog-licenses/. Also in the coming weeks, brochures containing applications for Sussex County dog licenses will be distributed to libraries throughout the county.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2010, dog owners living in Sussex County must obtain a County-issued license for any dog 6 months or older on or before March 1. Each dog must be properly vaccinated in order to obtain a license, which will be available for one-, two- and three-year periods.

Annual fees for 2010 will range from $10 for spayed/neutered dogs to $15 for non-sterilized dogs. Fees will be waived for seeing-eye, lead or guide dogs and those that have previously served in a branch of the U.S. military.

For more information, contact the Sussex County Dog Licensing Office at (302) 855-7380.
