Georgetown, Del., June 1, 2009: Residents and property owners of the Woodlands of Millsboro subdivision near Millsboro will vote in a referendum this month on whether to bring public sewer service to 57 properties in their community.
The Sussex County Engineering Department has proposed the creation of the Woodlands of Millsboro Sanitary Sewer District to include the entire community.
Qualified residents and property owners within the proposed area are invited to vote Thursday, June 25, 2009, from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Millsboro VFW Post No. 7422, 113 W. DuPont Highway, in Millsboro. Absentee ballots are available for anyone unable to vote in person. To be counted, all absentee ballots must be received by the County no later than noon Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Please call (302) 854-5099 to obtain an absentee ballot package.
If approved, design work on the $1.29 million project would begin immediately, and construction would commence in early 2010. Work is expected to take about six months, with the first customers connecting by summer of next year.
A copy of the proposed sanitary sewer district map, as well as a newsletter detailing estimated rates, project funding and voter qualifications, can be obtained by viewing “Proposed Projects and Schedules” on the Sewer and Water page of the County’s Web site, at sussexcountyde.gov/proposed-projects-schedules, or by calling (302) 855-1299.
