June 2, 2008 MR 08-13 [Georgetown, DE] - The Sussex County Council will proclaim the week of June 1-7, 2008 as CPR/AED Awareness Week on Tuesday, June 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. during a brief ceremony at the regularly scheduled council meeting located at 2 The Circle, Georgetown, Delaware. With the proclamation, Sussex County Council encourages all residents and visitors recognize the life saving value of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators) training during this week in recognition of CPR/AED Awareness Week.
In addition, Firefighter Walter Brittingham from Rehoboth Beach Fire Company, a recent cardiac arrest survivor, will be present at the council meeting to serve as a living testament to the life saving value of CPR and AED’s. Rescue personnel from Sussex County EMS and Bethany Beach Fire Company who participated in Walter’s cardiac arrest save will also attend the proclamation ceremony.
Also, in recognition of CPR/AED Awareness Week, Sussex County EMS has partnered with the Red Cross to promote CPR/AED with several public CPR demonstrations.
Proclamation:
WHEREAS, The Sussex County Council recognizes the life saving value of citizens learning to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use Automated External Defibrillators (AED) prior to an emergency, and;
WHEREAS, The Sussex County Council encourages all residents and visitors to obtain this training during this week in honor of National CPR and AED Awareness Week;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Sussex County Council proclaims the week of June 1-7, 2008 as CPR/AED AWARENESS WEEK in Sussex County, Delaware.
