9/11 Ceremony prior to Council meeting on September 11th.

August 30, 2007 MR 07-14 [Georgetown, DE] – Sussex County government invites the public to attend a special recognition ceremony commemorating the sixth anniversary of 9/11, on September 11, 2007, at 6 p.m. in County Council chambers, located at 2 The Circle in Georgetown, Del.

During the special ceremony, Sussex County Council will honor 9/11 as a special day by recognizing local heroes who serve our residents and visitors everyday. Special awards also will be handed out, recognizing the Firefighter, Paramedic, EMT and Communications Specialist of the Year, along with the Delaware State Trooper of the Year.

Patriotic musical selections will include the National Anthem, Amazing Grace, Taps, and God Bless America, played by “A Touch of Brass” and R. Steven Cochran Pipe Sergeant, USCG Pipe Band (ret.). Mike Lowe, president of the Sussex County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, will sound the bells as a tribute to those lost on 9/11. The Sussex County EMS Honor Guard will present and retire the colors.
