PUBLIC WORKSHOP
Bethany Beach and Williamsville Area 800 MHz Communications Towers
Lord Baltimore Elementary School, Cafeteria
120 Atlantic Avenue, Ocean View
Wednesday March 7, 2007, 5:30-7:30 pm
Presentation at 6:30 pm

The 800 MHz Next Generation program is a series of statewide projects, spanning several years, designed to provide increased radio coverage, particularly in buildings, for Delaware’s emergency services personnel; firemen, police officers and paramedics. In order to accomplish the goal of providing in-building coverage for over 2500 buildings deemed critical statewide, it is necessary to upgrade the radio system architecture, including the replacement or construction of communication towers and antennas, and upgrades of signal amplification equipment and software.

800 MHz coverage in the southeastern Sussex County area requires improvements, particularly to provide in-building coverage for the area’s public buildings, particularly schools. To provide this critical coverage, it is necessary to construct a new communications tower in Bethany Beach and another tower in the Williamsville area. The proposed Bethany Beach tower would be located at the County’s Wastewater treatment plant and would replace the existing tower. The Williamsville tower is planned for the County property located on Lighthouse Rd (Rt. 54) just west of the intersection of Dickerson Rd.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this workshop at any time between 5:30-7:30 pm, to meet with the 800 MHz project team and discuss the proposal in detail. There will be information regarding the 800 MHZ project in general, as well as specific information regarding the proposed towers and locations. At 6:30 pm, there will be a brief presentation outlining the program and the coverage needs specific to this area. The meeting is being conducted in workshop format in order to provide residents with the opportunity to participate as their schedules permit, anytime during the two hour workshop.
