Churches will receive Automatic External Defibrillators

April 29, 2004 04-14 [Dagsboro-Delaware] - On May 21, 2004, as part of our EMS Week celebration, Sussex County EMS will be providing free Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training at the Dagsboro Church of God on Route 113 in Dagsboro, Delaware.

CPR instruction will be given to anyone who attends. Several instructors will be on hand to teach students Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation through the use video and hands-on instruction. This Free CPR training will be offered from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

According to the American Heart Association, “Each day more than 600 Americans die of sudden cardiac death. CPR is an important link in the American Heart Association ‘Chain of Survival’. Early CPR can improve the chances of survival of a cardiac arrest victim. Studies have shown that for every minute delay in CPR to a victim of cardiac arrest there is a decrease of ten percent for survival. Everyone should learn CPR.This event is being sponsored by Sussex County EMS, Dagsboro Church of God, Sussex County Paramedic Association, and Shore Emergency Educators.
