
September 14, 2005 PR 05-13 [Georgetown, Delaware] - On September 13, 2005 Sussex County EMS Paramedics Candidates were recognized by the Sussex County Council for their recent completion of the Paramedic Training Program.
Those Paramedics include Paula Moore, Gabriela Evans, Jonathon Offen, and John Wright. These employees have completed over eighteen months of Paramedic Training at Delaware Technical and Community College. These paramedics received hundreds of hours of classroom instruction. In addition, they completed supervised hospital clinical rotations and field time on a medic unit with a Field Training Officer.
Gabriela “Gabi” Evans has been an Emergency Medical Technician for 12 years as a volunteer, first with Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Department and later with the Millville Volunteer Fire Department. Before coming to Sussex County EMS, she worked for the United States Postal Service in Bethany Beach. Gabi lives in the Ocean view area with her husband and daughter.
Paula Chaffinch Moore has been an Emergency Medical Technician for eight years serving with the Blades Volunteer Fire Department, seven of those years as Ambulance Captain. She has an Associate’s Degree in Human Services from Delaware Technical and Community College. She was also Emergency Medical Technician of the Year for the Medic 102 District in 1999. Before coming to Sussex County EMS, she was employed for seven years as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department.
John Wright has been an Emergency Medical Technician Since March of 2002. He has been a volunteer with the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department for the past 8 years. Prior to coming to Sussex County EMS, John was employed by the Millville Volunteer Fire Department as an Emergency Medical Technician. John lives in the town of Frankford.
Jonathan Offen was hired by the county as a Paramedic Student while he was enrolled in the Paramedic program. He has been a Delaware resident for the past ten years. Offen has been a Civil Air Patrol volunteer for seven years and a certified ground team member for Sussex Composite Squadron’s SAR team. Offen lives in Georgetown with his family.
