GEORGETOWN, Del., Oct. 11, 2005 – Sussex County Councilman Lynn J. Rogers of Milton has been appointed to a national steering committee that focuses on finance and intergovernmental affairs.
Councilman Rogers will serve one year on the National Association of Counties’ Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee. The committee deals with matters pertaining to the financial resources of counties, fiscal management, federal assistance, municipal borrowing, county revenues, the federal budget, federal tax reform and Native American issues, according to NACo.
Mr. Rogers received notification last month of his appointment to the committee by NACo President Bill Hansell. The councilman said the appointment is a privilege, and he hopes it will allow him to learn important lessons that he can then bring back to Sussex County.
“Anything I can do to improve my knowledge will help me help Sussex County be a better place,” Councilman Rogers said.
The National Association of Counties is a national organization based in Washington, D.C., representing more than 2,000 U.S. counties. The organization is an advocate at the federal level for county governments, and provides a host of services to members, including legislative and technical assistance.
