Sussex County to hold meeting, referendum on Johnson's Corner sewer district

Georgetown, Del., June 12, 2007: Residents and property owners of the Johnson’s Corner area near Roxana will vote this summer in a referendum on whether to bring public sewer service to their community.

Based on petitions received from property owners, the Sussex County Engineering Department has proposed the creation of the Johnson’s Corner Sanitary Sewer District to include the communities of Deer Run Acres, El Rancho Roxana, Fenwick West, the Hamlet at Dirickson Pond, Hampden Park, Swann Estates, Twin Cedars and Wanmar Lake.

Qualified residents and property owners within the proposed area are invited to vote Saturday, July 21, 2007, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Sound United Methodist Church community building, 37894 Sound Church Road, near Fenwick Island. Absentee ballots also are available by contacting (302) 854-5099.

An informational meeting regarding estimated connection charges and rates will be held Thursday, June 21, 2007, at 6 p.m. at the Roxana Fire Company’s main station in Roxana.
