Georgetown, DE (Sept. 5, 2008): The business community has long used networking to make contacts and close deals. Providers of critical services to Delaware’s seniors are now using that philosophy to maximize their own efforts and improve the quality of life for those they serve.
Becky Laster, of Jewish Family Services of Delaware, is the care coordinator for the Delaware Aging Network (DAN) in New Castle County. She will be the featured guest at this month’s meeting of the Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities.
The Delaware Aging Network, established in 2005, is a consortium of more than 35 agencies across the state committed to improving the quality of services for older adults. Through funding from the Delaware Community Foundation, DAN is working to create coordinated services for seniors, specifically in the areas of transportation, health care, and housing.
The Advisory Committee invites the public to attend the committee’s next meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at the Sussex County Administrative Offices West Complex on North DuPont Highway in Georgetown. An open discussion will follow the featured presentation.
The Sussex County Advisory Committee for the Aging & Adults with Physical Disabilities is an 11-member panel established by the Sussex County Council to be an advocate for programs and policies that benefit older and disabled residents. The committee meets on the third Monday of January, March, May, July, September and November. All meetings are open to the public.
The Advisory Committee’s mission is to increase dialogue, make recommendations to Sussex County Council, and to give support, assistance and advice on significant issues and programs that may affect the lives of the county’s aging and adults with physical disabilities populations.
