January 18, 2008 MR 08-01 [Blades-DE] - The Nanticoke Rotary Club recently honored several Sussex County Paramedics for their service to the community during a ceremony at the Nanticoke River Yacht Club in Blades, Delaware. These paramedics, selected by their supervisors included Carl Davis, Tommy Jefferson, Bobby Reese, and Jonathan Offen.
Carl Davis has been a Paramedic with Sussex County EMS since 2000. He chairs the department’s Emergency Preparedness Work Group and was recently appointed Coordinator of Sussex County Citizen Corps, a volunteer organization that educates and prepares citizens for disasters in their communities. Carl has an Associate’s Degree in Business and Law Enforcement from the Community College of Rhode Island, in Warwick, Rhode Island. Carl lives in Lincoln, Delaware with his family.
Tommy Jefferson has been a paramedic in Sussex County EMS since 1990. Mr. Jefferson chairs the department’s MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) work group which updates plans, trains employees and coordinates with other agencies to improve our response to large scale incidents. Tommy is also very active in the community coaching varsity football and baseball for the Woodbridge School District, in Bridgeville. Tommy lives with his wife and four children in Bridgeville, Delaware.
Bobby Reese, a paramedic with Sussex County EMS since 2002, remains active in the Seaford area with local sports teams. Bobby attended Paramedic Training at the Center for Emergency Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bobby has been and EMT for many years prior to becoming a paramedic. Bobby has one child and one grandchild and lives in Seaford, Delaware.
Jonathan Offen, a paramedic with Sussex County EMS since 2005, received the award for his dedication and service to the community through volunteering with the Georgetown Fire Company. He is also active with his church and has participated in several international missions. Jonathan is working towards an Associate’s Degree in Paramedic Technology from Delaware and Technical Community College. Jonathan and his wife live in Georgetown, Delaware.
John Kinsley was also recognized by the Nanticoke Rotary Club for his eighteen years of service to the citizens and visitors of Sussex County. Paramedic Kinsley is retiring next month after a long career in Sussex County in several positions, including Technical Services Division Manager, Paramedic Supervisor, Infection Control Officer, Hazmat Officer, and Paramedic. He was one of the original ten paramedics who started the EMS system in 1990. The Honorable Daniel B. Short, State Representive, Seaford, presented Mr. Kinsley with a Proclamation from Delaware House of Representatives recognizing his years of dedicated service.
