Cynthia C. ‘Cindy’ Green serves as the 2nd district councilwoman on the five-member Sussex County Council, representing northwestern portions of Sussex County, including the Bridgeville, Ellendale, Greenwood, Lincoln, Milford, and Milton areas. Elected to Council in 2020, Mrs. Green is the second woman elected to County Council, and the third female to serve on the body since the Council form of government was instituted by the Delaware General Assembly in the early 1970s. Mrs. Green is no stranger to Sussex County government, having served as the elected Register of Wills for 10 years prior to her elevation to the County Council, working in that time to modernize the office with the electronic filing of wills, as well as to implement a system for the safe, secure storage of wills and other estate documents. A lifelong resident of the Greenwood area and former professional elder caregiver, Mrs. Green understands how vital it is for public officials to be attentive to and compassionate in meeting the needs of the constituents they serve. Maintaining conservative budgeting, preserving agriculture, and protecting individual property rights are among her top priorities. Mrs. Green and her husband, Lawrence, live on a small farm near Greenwood and are the parents of three grown daughters and grandparents to four grandchildren.
