NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Sussex County Council held a referendum March 26, 2022 from 9:00am - 12:00am on the question of organizing a sanitary sewer district for the Indian River Acres Area to be part of the Sussex County Unified Sanitary Sewer District. The referendum was held at the Community Lutheran Church, 30897 Omar Road, Frankford, Delaware. The result of the referendum was 51 in favor of the sewer and 2 opposed. The Engineering Department will present the results to County Council for adoption of a Resolution declaring Indian River Acres an Area of the Sussex County Unified Sanitary Sewer District.

The Blackwater Village residents voted to abandon the project, thus removing the shared infrastructure for connection. The engineering department has identified an alternate connection location and working through the logistics.
